I’m often asked when happily telling people that I only started open-water swimming in lakes and long-distance swimming in the summer of 2020, AFTER surviving THE waves.
My new-found passion for swimming might seem even more curious to outsiders when I add that, after living through the catastrophic tsunami in Thailand on December 26th, 2004, I suffered from the consequences of this traumatic experience and could not even swim in indoor swimming pools.
